When I resurrected my art career almost a decade ago, I was intrigued with watercolor because of the ease with which it reflected light and movement and to charcoal and pencil for their simplicity and depth of value. But in more recent years, I have focused almost exclusively on mixed media collage; a combination of torn or cut recycled magazines, handmade paper, various kinds of paint and often a few "found" objects tossed in for good measure.
Because of their inherently spontaneous nature, collages have allowed me to experiment more freely with composition, color and texture and to highlight often overlooked or understated characteristics in our everyday world: the whimsical side of people as seen in my Limbs on the Looseseries and the beauty of our natural environment, reflected in myCliff Dwellerswork.
In addition to this web gallery, current selections of my work are displayed in my studio every month during Glenwood South's First Friday Gallery Walks and in local art exhibits, galleries and shows throughout the year.

Local Community Art Projects
Art on the Move, presented by the City of Raleigh Art's Commission in partnership with Capital Area Transit (CAT)
One of 12 designs chosen for this 2007-08 project, my collage depicts the best of both worlds that Raleigh has to offer: a big city culture with a small town feel. The Art's Commission hopes to increase the size of the wrap and the number of participating artists for their 2008-09 project.
Chairity, presented by Porto Furniture and Habitat For Humanity of Wake County
54 local artists will be recycling these Habitat ReStore chairs into orginal works of art for a fundraising auction on October 10, 2008. Stay tuned for sneak previews of my design.
